Hi,
firstly consider Wind Turbines are not called ‘Renewable Energy Sources’ without reason, as be minded they only last for between 12 and 17 years and then have to be ‘Renewed’, it is worth remembering that the 481m3 of concrete used for the plinth can neither be removed nor recycled – it will remain as virtually indestructible toxic waste, in situ! The windmill structure is merely unrecyclable toxic waste, costly to dismantle and transport – waste which will be dumped in similarly costly, secure land fills!
Do not forget that Solar Panels have much the same kind of footprint of environmentally damaging outcomes!
A Wind Turbine’s carbon footprint is massive
try 241.85 tons of CO2!
Here’s the breakdown of the CO2 numbers.
To make the steel reinforced concrete plinth for a Wind Turbine, as a stand, to prevent the Turbine toppling over.
To create 1,000 Kg of pig iron, you start with 1,800 Kg of iron ore, 900 Kg of coking coal, 450 Kg of limestone and the blast furnace consumes 4,500 Kg of air.
The temperature at the core of the blast furnace reaches nearly 1,600 degrees C (about 3,000 degrees F).
The pig iron, once smelted (created) is then transferred to the basic oxygen furnace to make steel.
1,350 Kg of CO2 is emitted for every 1,000 Kg pig iron produced.
A further 1,460 Kg CO2 is emitted per 1,000 Kg of Steel produced so all up 2,810 Kg CO2 is emitted.
45 tons of rebar (steel) are required so that equals 126.45 tons of CO2 are emitted.
To create a 1,000 Kg of Portland cement, calcium carbonate (60%), silicon (20%), aluminium (10%), iron (10%) and very small amounts of other ingredients are heated in a large kiln to over 1,500 degrees C to convert the raw materials into clinker. The clinker is then interground with other ingredients to produce the final cement product. When cement is mixed with water, sand and gravel forms the rock-like mass know as concrete.
An average of 927 Kg of CO2 is emitted per 1,000 Kg of Portland cement. On average, concrete has 10% cement, with the balance being gravel (41%), sand (25%), water (18%) and air (6%). One cubic metre of concrete weighs approx. 2,400 Kg so approx. 240 Kg of CO2 is emitted for every cubic metre.
481m3 of concrete are required for the plinth, so that equals 115.4 tons of CO2 are emitted.
Now I have not included the emissions of the mining of the raw materials, nor their transportation, or the transportation of the fabricated materials to the manufacturing site, nor the transportation of the fabricated turbine to the turbine site. I have also omitted the cost of transportation of rebar, gravel, cement and the like to the erection site and also the cost of manufacture and laying of access roads in terms of CO2 emissions is also left out. Therefore the emission calculation above would be on the low side at best, downplaying the environmental damage clearly caused by wind turbines – a damage that is likely to take upto 15 years at optimum output, of the turbine in question, to recoup IF EVER!
Let us pause for a moment and consider – We are told, it would seem fraudulently, that CO2 is the cause of Climate Change through Global Warming – but clearly this has Net Zero Scientific proof, particularly when there are efforts to blame mankind!
It is worth noting that we are told there is an estimate that 0.04% of our atmosphere is CO2, this is astonishing when you consider this is exactly the same amount as when the percentage was guessed at in 1903, I say guessed at, as when the Nobel Committee Laureate, Svante Arrhenius, who was awarded a Nobel Prize for inventing this figure at a time when there was no instrument capable of measuring trace gases in our upper atmosphere! his prize was also inventing the term Global Warming.
Svante Arrhenius also defined exactly how much extra CO2 had to be produced to generate a global temperature rise of 1.5C exactly – a figure that has never been amended and became something of a mantra underpinning what became a family business, and something of a money spinner! as practiced by his descendants Klaus Schwab, Svante Thunberg and his daughter Greta (for detailed links SEE: https://climateguilt.wordpress.com/2022/04/28/greta-thunbergs-support-access-publicity-is-understandable-her-ancestry-is-rothschild-family-a-nobel-fraud-shes-related-to-klaus-schwab-of-the-corrupt-w-e-f/ )
CAVEAT
None of these calculations give any consideration of the environmental damage caused by the installation and use of Diesel Generators, supplied by the taxpayers, at the site of wind turbines, to make good the wind turbine’s regular shortfall, when they fail to function due to repair, service or wind variations – be it either too low a wind or too high to produce power for the grid!
Interestingly the feed into the grid from the diesel generators is expected to accrue to the total from the wind turbine, thus receiving the same feed-in tariff, making it almost impossible to differentiate between the feed-in tariff handouts, given to the turbine operators & owners, whether produced genuinely from the taxpayer subsidised wind turbines, or by their tax payer funded diesel generators!
Nor have I given calculations of the Tons of copper for the wiring of the motor in the generator of the turbine itself. Nor consideration of the avg. 250L of oil required to lubricate and cool the turbine itself!.
We have made no additional consideration for the mining of Copper for the wiring nor for the turbine windings or the windings in the motors of the standby diesel generator required with every wind turbine, to cut in to maintain electricity supply, if the wind falters or doesn’t blow, or blows too hard!
Nor have we considered the extension of the National Grid and additional pylons required to carry the new capacity – This of course will have to make allowance for a minimum increase in the size of the grid and increase of substations and power transformers Nationwide, which is estimated will be between 1/3rd. and 50% for supply of electric cars, nor the fact that almost every street in Britain will have to be dug up to provide re-cabling and at least 1/3 more sub-stations and junctions for this increased requirement!
I for one am bemused at the percentage of people who are so gullible that they have accepted the obvious fraud of Anthropogenic Climate Change and Global Warming – The only certainty that comes of Net Zero is that there is a Net Zero of scientific provenance of the many threats that are invented and made.
Let Us Stop For A Moment:
we are told that the world is on fire and we are responsible for CO2 cauing rising temperature that is causing the ice-caps to melt and sea levels to rise, which is clearly rubbish – Just look at a few facts starting with the irrefutable fact that there isn’t a single country on the globe that has become innundated by sea water and were the levels rising the rise would be measurable on any area of coast anywhere on the planet as the sea, worldwide, is a single mass!
We are lied to regarding extinctions of animals yet in the last century, in fact the last 500 years, not a single notable animal has become extinct in any way that could be blamed on climate changes, were they occurring! We are told again and again that the ice-caps are melting and that Polar Bears are approaching extinction – were that true, firstly where is the proof that it is mankind’s fault, now consider the facts: I was born in 1946 and there are now about 40% more Polar Bears than when I was born. As for smaller ice-caps, it is interesting that there is more ice in Antarctica now than has ever been recorded previously and the winter temperatures have been colder and snowfalls greater recently than previously, though I am happy to concede the Thwaites Glacier also called the Doomsday Glacier which flows into the Amundsen Sea is melting due to Climate Change caused by CO2, for which mankind is blamed! There is Net Zero evidence for this as it very clearly overlooks the known fact that directly under the massive glacier are 6 or 7 immense Magma Vents, permanently pouring out molten rock through these separate small volcanos!
It is also worth remembering that Greenland is so named as it was fertile farm land settled by The Vikings and the ice sheet from Greenland to The Bering Straights used to be called The North West Passage and Alexander Slocombe sailed single-handedly from The Atlantic to The Pacific in the 1920s a feat repeated by another sailor immediately after WWII but currently impossible due to increases in ice caused by colder temperatures.
It is easy to show there is Net Zero Scientific Evidence that Proves CO2 causes any significant increase in temperature, even by the broadly repeated claim that CO2 is 0.04% of our planet’s atmosphere of which it is claimed that mankind is liable for 3.335% & Britain is, it is claimed, responsible for 1%. CO2 is guessed to represent around 350 to 400 Parts Per Million (PPM) which is in FACT dangerously low as ALL vegetation dies at around 200 to 250PPM.
Do produce a single solitary scientific paper of consequence that would seem to PROVE CO2 is responsible for Climate Change or that mankind is having ANY consequential effect on the Planet’s temperature – just a single solitary paper that is responsibly peer-reviewed! That which is pretended to support the fantasy is either the faux science bought and paid for by the UN, WEF & WHO to provide suitable propaganda in the IPCC Report, which has not a shred of plausible evidence in it and although there are long lists of paid scientists who contributed, do check the facts, a high percentage of the scientist actually contributed by saying that there was Net Zero evidence and wanted their names removed – be minded 30,000 scientists have signed The Oregon Declaration denouncing the fraud!
Such evidence the IPCC pretends to is in fact carefully selected data designed to ensure well-designed computer models funded to produce required results!
The very FACT that Anthropogenic Climate Change and man-made Global Warming is glibly called ‘Settled Science’ is the great giveaway as by definition NO Science is Ever settled! Science is merely a current belief subject to debate by real scientists. Never forget the Science was settled and supported by God and the Catholic Church that the Sun and stars revolved around the Earth in the ‘firmament’ at a time when The Settled Science was that The World was flat and many believed it was supported by a tortoise and others by Atlas – So much for Settled Science!
To Move On:
Let us consider the complete impracticality of Electric Cars & other Electric Vehicles and the very real FACT that a major part of Net Zero is to reduce (The Great Reset) the population to some 500,000,000 globally to comply with the stated aims of the WEF as delineated by the WEF in Agenda 20, 21 & 30 and numerous speeches and authoritative papers!
Compliance with the aims of the WEF are the ONLY way that EVs could become viable – Here are the FACTS:
